About Us
Based in Vancouver, Washington, HOSTS Learning is a leading provider of classroom and mentoring & intervention solutions that support the teaching process and supplemental mentoring programs for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Since 1971, HOSTS Learning solutions have helped over one million students improve in reading and math an average of two grade levels in a single school year. Through the use of diagnostic strategies and individualized lessons, instructors and mentors are given the tools to help all students succeed while maximizing use of existing core curriculum and tracking achievement. HOSTS Learning is the only program identified in both the NCLB language and the IDEA reauthorization as a successful, research-based practice.

HOSTS Learning has helped schools and districts close the achievement gap and accelerate the learning of all students for more than thirty-five years.

Organizing Schools for Success
The National Commission on Teaching and America's Future (NCTAF) has recognized that in order to support high-quality teaching and build upon the report the Commission made in What Matters Most, we must organize every school for teaching and learning success. We must also insist on quality teacher preparation, and develop and sustain professional and rewarding career paths for teachers through sustained and ongoing professional development and learning teams. Recent research, summarized by the National Academy of Sciences, has found that successful learning environments are those that are 1) learner centered, 2) assessment centered, 3) knowledge centered, and 4) community centered. HOSTS Learning has been nationally recognized for more than 35 years as a proven leader in individual instruction and intervention techniques. HOSTS Learning employs next-generation technology and uses the HOSTS instructional management system to align to more than 50,000 core and supplemental curriculum and learning resources from hundreds of publishers. HOSTS Learning works with districts to build a coherent schoolwide implementation for enhancing teacher effectiveness and accelerating student learning. The HOSTS program is the largest and most longstanding one-on-one structured mentoring and intervention program in the United States and the only program mentioned by name in the report language for NCLB and the reauthorization of IDEA. Our focus is on helping districts to individualize learning for all students through the analysis of formative assessment data and the aligning of curriculum and instructional resources that currently exist in the district. Our professional development approach helps to build strong learning communities by engaging instructional leaders in the decision-making process.

Learning Communities That Work
Critical to the success of a HOSTS Learning implementation is building a strong and supportive learning community by supporting teachers through professional development. Our HOSTS Professional Growth and Learning services are based on the work of leading researchers, including Marzano, Reeves, Pickering, and Pollock. HOSTS's education consultants bring together the key elements of assessment, curriculum, and instruction and reinforce learning with strong professional skills and essential competencies. Our modules include Instructional Leadership, Data-Driven Decision Making, Differentiating Instruction, What Works (Best practices), and Supporting Struggling Learners.
